Rafael Benitez is one of the managers who is receiving most heat in the world of football and this is mainly due to the pressure that is surrounding Real Madrid and the manager himself who is going through his first season in charge of the Spanish club but has slipped up and begun losing points in the race for the La Liga title
.The co-owner of West Ham United, David Sullivan has recently revealed details concerning Rafael Benitez and the Welsh businessman stated that Benitez was expected to take charge of West Ham Untied before deciding to take a turn and go to Real Madrid.
“We were two hours from getting Benitez and then Real Madrid came in. We had agreed a contract. He is a top manager whatever anybody says, and I think he’d have done a wonderful job for us.” Welsh businessman, David Sullivan told the media.
Jurgen Klopp was another top coach that West Ham United attempted to sign but the Premier League club eventually had to settle with Slaven Bilic who ultimately decided to take up the managerial position of West Ham United.
It might have been a better for Rafael Benitez to take up the coaching role of the Premier League side instead of Real Madrid, taking into consideration the current situation that Benitez is going through where every day it seems like he is getting closer to an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.
The intensity and demands that it takes to coaching a club such as Real Madrid is on a totally different level than in comparison to West Ham United. With the Spanish outfit, the expectations and demands include winning major titles such as: La Liga and the Champions League which is an incredibly difficult thing to do even with the star studded players that Real Madrid has, meanwhile taking charge of West Ham United is a much more simpler role as just by sticking in the top 10 spots of the Premier League would be a fairly good campaign.
Did Rafael Benitez make a mistake in taking charge of Real Madrid or will he be able to reach the demands that come with coaching one of the biggest clubs in the world?
