In-form Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was one of the best players at the end of the UEFA Nations League last weekend as he helped France to win the competition. The Real Madrid star scored two goals in two games for France on the way to winning the UEFA Nations League.

Portugal won the maiden edition of the UEFA Nations League and they have been replaced by world champions France who emerged as winners of the second edition thanks in part to the brilliance of Karim Benzema.

In their last four clash, France beat Belgium 3-2 as they were able to turn around a 2-0 deficit at the halftime break. AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez then scored the fifth goal and the winning goal of the game in the final minute of the match to send France into the final.

On their part, Spain made the UEFA Nations League final by beating hosts Italy 2-1. The Italians had skipper Leonardo Bonucci sent off in the first half for two yellow cards.

In the final, France and Spain were deadlocked at the half-time break without any goal bit that changed around the midway stage of the second half through Real Sociedad attacker Mikel Oyarzabal. Karim Benzema then scored a world class goal two minutes later to level proceedings for the French team. PSG forward Mbappewas responsible for the winning goal of the final scored in a controversial manner with ten minutes left. The goal from Mbappe ensured that France added the UEFA Nations League to their World Cup title from three years ago.
